Master plan for UNESCO World Heritage Site Museum Island with Archaeological Promenade

Right in the centre of berlin a huge planning project is implemented at the moment: The master plan of the Museum Island.

The Museum Island was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in the year 1999.

On a (german only) website a lot of material around this project is available.

Interesting is the idea of creating an Archaeological Promenade that will form a link between the muesums and channel the flow of expected visitors.

Visitor management is an interesting topic for many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A book about it was published by Myra Shackley. It is called Visitor Management - Case Studies from World Heritage Sites.
